The
We Are Oroville Movement

WEAREOROVILLE_Wbelogo.png

The "We Are Oroville" movement is a community-driven initiative emphasizing that the city's success hinges on residents identifying with their city and taking personal responsibility for its well-being. The movement's core message is that collective action, or "leveraging the efforts of the individual," is essential for raising the entire community and creating positive change.

Core Principles of the "We Are Oroville" Movement

The movement promotes the idea that a city's success isn't solely dependent on external factors or government, but largely on the community's internal strength and engagement. "We Are Oroville" is about empowering residents to be active stakeholders in their community's future, demonstrating that compassion, opportunity, and collective effort can transform lives and elevate the city as a whole.

 1. Sense of Identity: Fostering a strong sense of pride and identity with Oroville is seen as a crucial step in changing the city's trajectory and image. The slogan "I am Oroville! We are Oroville!" is used to build a shared sense of belonging and unity.

2. Personal Responsibility: The movement encourages residents to stop waiting for "someone" else to fix things and instead to be the change-makers themselves. This includes volunteering, supporting local businesses, attending community meetings, and participating in improvement projects.

3. Community Collaboration: By networking, connecting, and communicating, local business owners, government officials, investors, and private citizens work together to address shared concerns like public safety, homelessness, and economic development.

4. Collective Strength: The movement operates on the principle that "together we are stronger". This collaborative spirit, described as being like "barn raisings" of the past, is intended to build on a solid foundation to have a lasting impact.
